Get Involved & Volunteer
Komen Central Indiana is primarily volunteer-driven and relies on our dedicated, passionate volunteers to accomplish the mission to end breast cancer forever. We are always looking for volunteers to help at events, health fairs, fundraisers and planning committees.
If you would like to be added to our volunteer opportunities mailing list, please sign up by emailing info@komenindy.org with the subject line “Volunteer Registration” and your name, phone and email address.
- Race for the Cure. Volunteers and our supporters are what make this event the largest single-day fundraising event in Indiana and one of the largest Komen Races in the world. In 2011, nearly 38,000 Race participants, 500 volunteers and hundreds of corporations came together to raise $2.6 million to help end breast cancer by funding research, education and early detection services.
- Pink Ribbon Celebration. The Pink Ribbon Celebration is our annual luncheon celebration for survivors and their friends and family. This event attracts nearly 1,000 attendees, more than half of whom are breast cancer survivors. Volunteers help with the registration, decorations, set up, prizes and/or tear down.
- Pink Tie Ball. Our annual black-tie fundraising event is an elegant and fun way to honor survivors while bringing us one step closer to the cures. This event attracts more than 500 guests. Volunteers help with the registration, set up, silent auction, gift sales, coat checks and/or tear down.
- Education Programs. We have education initiatives and health fairs year round for which we seek volunteers. You don’t have to be an expert to represent Komen – information materials about breast cancer and Komen Central Indiana are provided for the table/display.
- Circle of Hope – Volunteer & Fundraiser Appreciation Night. The Circle of Hope is our annual volunteer appreciation and recognition celebration that brings our supporters, sponsors, grantees and key leaders together to thank our dedicated volunteers.
Host a fundraising event or promotion
Every year, individuals, companies, schools and other organizations organize their own events and through their combined efforts raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to end breast cancer. These events can range from large, organized events like a golf, tennis or bowling tournament to small personal gatherings, like a bake sale or card games.
