Eagle Creek Curves

This year our window decorations reflect the 20 years that the Komen Race for the Cure has been in Indianapolis. We have a paint palette on our large windows with 20 pink ribbons around the outside. We also have a silhouette of Indianapolis with 20 pink ladies running along the bottom. We enjoy participating in the PIP contest every year as a tribute to our many members who have fought their battle against breast cancer.

Hologic

Participating in Paint Indy Pink allows Hologic to celebrate our employee survivors and highlight the launch of our breakthrough tomosyntheses 3D mammography imaging solution. Combined with Hologic’s comfortable MammoPad breast cusion, we have revolutionized how breast cancer is detected today. For our display, we have featured our 20 favorite reasons to get a mammogram in honor of Komen Central Indiana 20th anniversary. Associates passionately filled our lobby with shades of pink to demonstrate our passion for breast health. At Hologic helping women everywhere lead longer healthier lives is our reason for being and the single focus of every breakthrough we pursue.

Oak Street Funding

In 2010, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I was always one of those who thought, ‘Why check, it’ll never happen to me. I’m too young.’ Then the phone call came. Nothing could’ve prepared me for what was to come. Now that it’s gone and I’m on the road to being a survivor, I’m a firm believer that something positive will come from this experience. This is why I want to pay it foward and raise breast cancer awareness to the ‘it won’t happen to me’ believers. The Paint Indy Pink campaign is just the beginning.

CNO Financial Group

We wanted to do more to raise awareness and show our support for Komen. We had a blast decorating our conference center lobby – which is our public entrance.

Edward Jones

My friend Tracy is currently in the fight of her life with stage 4 breast cancer and also Thyroid cancer: She is a precious lady and I want to support her any way I can!

Lifestyle Family Fitness

Breast Cancer has always been a dear to my heart. My grandmother and aunt have both battled Breast Cancer. Lifestyle Family Fitness has always put forth lots of efforts to raise money and awareness. We see the importance of working out and staying active to reduce your risk. Thank you!

Indiana Blood Center

Here at the Indiana Blood Center, we believe blood is life. Blood plays a vital role in cancer treatment and without blood there would not be as many survivors today to share their inspirational stories. It is these inspirational survival stories we hear almost daily that encourages Indiana Blood Center to take a stance. Let us Paint Indy Pink and celebrate the lives of all who have battled breast cancer.

Hendricks County Health Dept

Our theme is “20 Reasons To Fight, 20 Reasons to Celebrate”. We are showcasing 20 survivors within our ‘Hendricks County Government’ family. In our dept of 19, we alone have one survivor and seven family members of staff that are survivors. We hope our display brings light to the fact tht so many people are affected by breast cancer. during the kick-off (4/1), we will be hosting an open house for all county employees, the media, and the public to come and share with us our celebration. One of our directors is celebrating her 5 years as a survivor. She is our inspiration!

Little Red Door Cancer Agency

In 2010, Little Red Door helped 1,378 women through our mammography assistance program. Over the last 20 years, we have helped over 20,000 women courtesy of Susan G. Komen. Little Red Door Cancer Agency receives the majority of funding for our Mammography Assistance Program from the Central Indiana Affiliate of Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. This allows us to provide free breast health education, clinical breast exams, mammograms and diagnostic procedures o the women of Central Indiana who are most in need – those without health insurance or financial resources.

Creation Café

Breast Cancer hits very close to home for me as the owner of the restaurant, as I watched my grandmother lose her battle to breast cancer after 22 years of fighting the fight. Being in the restaurant industry, we are able to impact people everyday in different ways. Therefore, by decorating the restaurant to pink, it helps to remind people to participate in the Race for the Cure and shows the community our passion for helping to find a cure. We are hosting an after party that is called, ‘Boogie Down for Boobies’ in which the event is a way for people to eat after the walk, but more importantly to have fun. It is a time to celebrate for the survivors, but alsoo a time to carry on the memories of the loved ones who have lost the battle.

Windsor Jewelry

Because of the number of people we are close to that have been effected by cancer we want to help bring awareness.

Shooting Stars Portrait Studios

Honestly, we wish we didn’t have to participate in Painting Indy Pink. We wish there was no such thing as cancer. We certainly wish NONE of these 20 pink princesses had to watch their loved ones fight a very cruel disease. A few young ladies have already had to say goodbye to grandmas, aunts, and friends. That makes us sad. More than anything, Shooting Stars Portrait Studios is going pink because if we don’t Race for a Cure, at least Two of these 20 girls will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. And that makes us mad!

Dream Dinners

We participate because of our top 20 reasons to Get Involved (posted on our wall); Help Women, Good Exercise, Time with Friends, See the Sunrise, Raise Money for a Great Cause, Show Support for Survivors; Honor those who fought the Good Fight; Remember Loved Ones, Meet New Friends, Help Others, Family Time, Give back Blessings, Help Find a Cure, etc. And, because our dear friend and fellow staff member is a survivor we dearly love!

CVS Pharmacy

Standing behind a good cause, and loving the color pink, startes us on our path to decorating for Paint the Town Pink. We hae a co-worker who is a breast cancer survivor and we walk every year in the Susan G. Komen race for the cure event. To celebrate the 20th Anniversary we chose to print up 20 myths about breast cancer vs. reality and decorated a wall in the waiting area for our customers to read. Both employees and customers learend about breast cancer.

Kroger

We have all experienced losses of our loved ones and participating in this awareness campaign of hope and unity enables us to be engaged in finding a cure to avoid future sadness. The passion and emotion we experience in being involved in this event is truly inspirational and each year we look forward with hope to the “Race for the Cure”. “My mother smiles down on me each day” “I believe that with research our grandchildren will not have to suffer with this disease” “I have daughters that I love dearly” “I did not get the opportunity to know my aunt who passed away when I was 5 years old” “It is my hope that when Breast Cancer is finally overcome this will lead to a cure for all cancers affecting every family”

Studio 2000 Salon and Day Spa

The staff of Studio 2000 was inspired to Paint Indy Pink because of our personal connection to the cause. 100% of our staff has been affected by knowing a relative, friend, or client who has suffered from breast cancer. We hope to make more people aware of the disease and to encourage regular mammograms. Our mission is to save lives. Spreading the word about early detection and raising money for research is of the utmost importance. We celebrate 20 years of Komen and all the awareness they have brought to our community.

Underwater Unlimited

We want to inspire others to know, care, and support the cause of stamping out Breast Cancer. Many People just don’t know the information, but want to care and show support. We want to raise awareness for everyone. Everyone here at Underwater raises their hands for a cure! Pink Rules!

Bath & Body Works

Everyone knows someone in their lives effected by cancer. I am only one person, but I have aspired for something larger than myself. To reach out and help those who cannot help themselves.

Brownsburg High School

In 2004 I lost my best friend, hero, and mother, Pat Taylor, to breast cancer. It is because of this great loss that I desire for not just my fellow staff but the young adults I teach to understand the severity of this disease and that if we work together we WILL find a a cure to ed breast cancer forever. That is why I hosted a “Pink Out” at our school. My desire was to cause students and staff to stop and think about this issue and to hopefully sign-up for the Indy Race for the Cure.

Franklin Township Middle School West

Breast Cancer has affected the lives of many people. We wanted to share 20 reasons to go pink with the staff, students, and visitors at FTMS West. At our school, the nurse is a one-year survivor. The sponsor of Student Council, her mother is a two-year survivor. The 8th grade Student Council member who initiated this has an aunt who is a survivor. We are thankful for the efforts of the Komen Foundation.

Pilgrim Lutheran Preschool

We couldn’t pick just 20 reasons, we have 85 reasons, all between the ages of 2 and 5! Pilgrim Lutheran Preschool is participating in ‘Paint the Playground Pink’ this year because these children should never have to lose their sister, mother, or grandmother to breast cancer. We have survivors and have sisters and mothers who are survivors. We asked our parents to support our Race this year by dressing their children in pink for our picture and we had an amazing 100% participation!

St. Rose of Lima School

St. Rose of Lima School is a small, tight-knit communicty which in reality is more like a family. Too many members of that family have been affected by breast cancers. Survivors are among staff members and school parents. Almost every student can name someone they know that has had breast cancer. By painting our school pink, we can remember the battles that have been fought and keep in our minds how important it is that future battles are won 100% of the time.

Walker & Associates

Walker & Associates did not officially participate this year In Paint Indy Pink (after winning once and receiving honorable mention once), with one of their team leaders back in treatment. However, a few amazing co-workers and friends stepped in and decorated anyway to show support for their colleague with this honorary last-minute entry.
