Komen Indianapolis Launches New Web Site, Digital Strategies

Innovation and desire to leverage digital spark a renewed energy and web site

The Central Indiana Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® is pleased to announce a variety of exciting Internet initiatives to raise awareness and support in advance of the 19th Annual Komen Central Indiana Race for the Cure on April 17, 2010. Included in the plan are a new web site, targeted email marketing campaigns, social media and community outreach organized through www.komenindy.org. Project Brilliant, an Indianapolis-based digital strategy and ventures firm to lead the strategic planning process.

“Komen Central Indiana came to recognize that while we have always embraced the Internet as a way to communicate with our supporters, we weren’t leveraging it to grow our business and have a greater impact in our community,” said Executive Director Dana Curish. “We had numerous vendors, but were struggling with knowing how to coordinate and integrate them into an effective initiative. We needed a plan.”

The non-profit retained local digital business strategy firm Project Brilliant to develop a strategic plan to help the Board identify and launch efforts to better integrate existing platforms and focus the organization.

“The new site is just the beginning of Komen’s digital initiatives,” said James Burnes, Principal and Founder of Project Brilliant, who led the strategic planning. “We’re putting the focus on making it easy for Central Indiana supporters to contribute to Komen, and to maintain a strong, centralized place for supporters and donors to keep in touch with Komen through social media and the web. The new site is just the beginning. We have other exciting efforts coming soon.”

“It’s our hope that our digital platforms educate and inspire those who have never before contributed to our mission to make an impact,” said Curish. “If the 40,000+ participants anticipated for this year’s race had just 10 friends and family sponsor them with a $10 donation, we’d generate nearly $4,000,000 to invest in programs throughout our community.”
