Central Indiana: Community Needs & Action Plan for 2011-2013

2011 Community Profile identifies current breast health needs in Central Indiana

As one of 124 affiliates, Komen Central Indiana conducts a community needs assessment in our 21-county service area once every two years, then creates an action plan based on its findings. This year-long process of research, interviews and focus groups helps identify local breast health funding priorities to ensure our grant funds are spent as effectively as possible (see our list of current grantees).

A key issue we identified is that if women are not symptomatic or do not recognize the importance of early detection, they might not make it a priority to get their mammogram every year -this includes women who have insurance to cover mammograms.
